The Housing Authority of Somerset (HAS) administers Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV) that are funded by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Eligibility for the HCV program is determined by your total family income. This program allows the family to choose the location of the home to be rented. For example, after being approved for the issuance of a voucher, the family selects a home in the city/county to be rented, and this could be a single-family home, apartment, or other type of quality housing. The home selected must be affordable and meet housing quality standard/ NSPIRE Inspection. A portion of the rent is paid directly to the landlord on behalf of a family.
